On 23rd November 2025 Uganda’s music fraternity gathered to honor Yese Oman Rafiki, a legendary music composer, for 15 years of exceptional contribution to the art of songwriting and composition. Dubbed the “Yeselabration,” the evening was a vibrant fusion of nostalgia, live orchestral renditions of his most beloved compositions, and a powerful showcase of how one composer’s pen can shape a nation’s soundtrack.
Yeselabration – Celebrating 15 Years of Yese Oman Rafiki
Highlights
· Industry Turnout: The event drew top music executives, producers, label owners, and fellow composers – a rare convergence of behind-the-scenes architects of East African music.
· Cultural Togetherness: Performances featured compositions from Yese’s catalog spanning gospel, Afro-pop, traditional folk, and film scores, reminding attendees that composition is the root of all musical expression.
· The Composers Brunch Premiere: In a historic moment, the curtain was lifted on The Composers Brunch – an annual expo dedicated to music composition and the songwriting lifestyle. East Africa witnessed its first formal introduction, with an announcement that Edition 2 will take place in July 2026 under the theme “An African Pull to Sound Unity.”
Significance
Yeselabration was more than a birthday or anniversary – it was a declaration that Uganda’s composers are legends deserving of stages, spotlights, and institutional support. The event also marked the official partnership between Ran09 African Creatives and The Songwriters Association of Uganda, who jointly presented the Composers Brunch vision to an energized audience.
