Professional Biography – Rachman Nagwere
Rachman Nagwere is a Ugandan Jewish educator, musician, and rabbinical assistant from the Abayudaya community in eastern Uganda. Born into a Muslim family, he embraced Judaism in 2008, taking the Hebrew name Rachman. His journey of faith has been accompanied by a deep devotion to Hebrew language, Torah study, and Jewish music.
Serving for two years as Youth President of his community, Rachman played a pivotal role in engaging young people through education, music, and cultural heritage. He is known for his rich vocal style that draws on both Jewish liturgical chants and the azan of his earlier Muslim tradition, blending reverence with melody. Whether leading “Mazal Tov” celebrations or teaching Torah, his approach to music is thoughtful and intentional, rooted in respect for sacred traditions.
